Impulse Season 1 Recap

The first season of Impulse premiered on June 6th, 2017, exclusively through Netflix. Created by Jennie K. Snyder Urman and based on a series of young adult novels written by Steven Jameson (alias: Dean Koontz), the show follows the story of Amy Farrel (played by Keiynne Lai) as she navigates her life after witnessing an event that triggers extraordinary abilities within herself.

Amy has always felt like an outsider in the small town where she lives. She's constantly bullied and ostracized for being different, but little does anyone know just how much of a difference Amy is capable of making.

After getting into a fight with her abusive stepbrother at school one day, 16-year-old Amy sees something that will change everything: her classmate, Ben (played by Steven Robertson), brutally murdered in front of everyone. The scene ends abruptly before we can fully process what happened next - but when it cuts back to present-day Los Angeles years later, viewers learn two key things:

1) Our protagonist now goes by the name 'A' after changing identities following that fateful day.

2) She has developed telekinetic powers due to seeing her friend die.

Now working as an LAX gate agent while trying not to draw attention herself (since only certain people know about these special abilities), A keeps mostly under radar until she bumps into someone from her past - Justin, now a handsome pilot who might just reignite feelings long thought extinguished...

As season one unfolds through ten episodes total (all available at once via Netflix), we follow along as Amy struggles to control her newfound gifts while also trying notto fall back into old patterns. Alongside supporting characters like Harper (played by Christian Camargo) - Justin's boss who becomes somewhat of a mentor figure; and Nash - another passenger on flight 828 whose own mysterious circumstances begin revealed throughout the series...

Throughout each episode, we'll see flashbacks to key moments in Amy's past that help explain why she developed these powers. We also get glimpses into what might happen next for our protagonist as well as other characters introduced along the way.

Overall Impulse season one is an action-packed ride full of twists and turns. The show does a great job balancing drama with humor, making it easy to become invested in the lives of both main character Amy and those around her.
